Visit Hannibal lists the 2026 Victorian Festival of Christmas as running from November 28 to December 20. On paper that's more than three weeks of festival. The confirmed events tell a tighter story. Almost every one of them starts between 4 and 6 p.m., and they fall on four weekends: Thanksgiving Saturday, the first weekend of December, the second Saturday, and the Saturday before Christmas. The season is a short run of evenings, and the 2026 dates are mostly set already.
Here is what's confirmed as of mid-October.
| Date | Day | Event | Time | Where |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nov. 28 | Saturday | Mark Twain's Birthday Bash | 2–4 p.m. | Museum Gallery, 120 N. Main St. |
| Nov. 28 | Saturday | Downtown Christmas tree lighting | 5 p.m. | Boyhood Home stage on Hill Street |
| Dec. 4 | Friday | Hannibal Christmas Church Tour | 5–8 p.m. | Churches to be announced |
| Dec. 5 | Saturday | Hannibal Jaycees Christmas Parade | 6 p.m. | Broadway |
| Dec. 12 | Saturday | Living Windows and the year's final Second Saturday art walk | Shops open 4–7 p.m. | Downtown |
| Dec. 19 | Saturday | Hannibal Christmas Home Tour | 5–8 p.m. | Homes to be announced |
Thanksgiving Saturday shows how the whole season is built. It starts in the afternoon and lands at dusk.
The Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum is holding its annual birthday bash from 2 to 4 p.m. on November 28. Per the Visit Hannibal event listing, Tom and Becky will run crafts and games in the second-floor auditorium of the Museum Gallery. Kids can make Christmas cards for local nursing homes, play pin the moustache on Mark Twain, decorate party hats and bookmarks, and build a mustache on a stick. An adult has to stay with children during the activities.
This year adults get activities of their own. The museum is partnering with the Hannibal Free Public Library, Hannibal Parks and Recreation, local authors and others. No RSVP is needed.
The museum campus is free for Hannibal residents. That covers the self-guided tour of all eight buildings, not just the birthday party. The party ends at 4 p.m., which leaves an hour to walk the campus before the next event starts a few steps away.
At 5 p.m., Mr. Clemens, Tom and Becky, and a group of carolers gather at the Boyhood Home stage on Hill Street for the lighting of the downtown Christmas tree. Santa Claus and guests lead the carols and the countdown to the lighting at dusk. Organizers bill it as part of both the Victorian Festival of Christmas and Small Business Saturday in Historic Downtown Hannibal.
Put together, Thanksgiving Saturday runs from shopping downtown, to a free museum afternoon, to a tree lighting at dark, all within a couple of blocks of North Main.
The first weekend of December repeats that afternoon-into-evening pattern twice in a row, on back-to-back nights.
On Friday, December 4, the third annual Hannibal Christmas Church Tour runs from 5 to 8 p.m. As of the Visit Hannibal listing, the participating churches and other details are still to be announced. The tour is new enough that this is only its third year. Last year's version ran on Friday, December 5, 2025, according to the City of Hannibal's November 2025 management report. So it has settled into the Friday before the parade.
The next evening, Saturday, December 5, the Hannibal Jaycees bring their lighted Christmas parade down Broadway at 6 p.m., with decorated floats and Santa. Broadway also got the city's holiday decorations last year. That same 2025 city report says Parks staff put up Christmas wreaths and lights downtown and along Broadway.
Hannibal's Second Saturday art walk has run monthly all year, and its last 2026 date is December 12. On Second Saturdays, downtown galleries, shops and businesses stay open from 4 to 7 p.m.
That same Saturday is Living Windows. The Visit Hannibal listing describes downtown shop windows staged as seasonal scenes. It also mentions carolers, horse-drawn wagon rides, strolling characters, story-spinning and hot cocoa on Main Street.
Pairing the two events is an old habit. A 2013 Hannibal Courier-Post story described merchants making goods in their windows or staging scenes from popular films and TV, with the event timed to the Second Saturday Gallery Walk. In 2025, the city's report put Living Windows on Saturday, December 13, alongside a storyteller and strolling Merry Maker characters. The pairing has lasted more than a decade, and 2026 keeps it.
Neither the 2026 listing nor the 2025 city report names the participating storefronts or gives Living Windows hours of its own. The 4-to-7 p.m. art walk window is the only confirmed time for that evening so far.
The last confirmed event, the Hannibal Christmas Home Tour, runs from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 19. The list of homes is still to come.
Last year's tour shows how it usually works. Historic Downtown Hannibal sold tickets for a self-guided, one-night tour of five decorated homes from 5 to 8 p.m. on December 20, 2025, at $10 per ticket. The 2025 homes were:
Addresses came with the ticket. People who bought online picked up their tickets at Clemens General Store, 305 N. Main. In-person sales at the store ran from December 8 until 7 p.m. on the night of the tour. The 2026 price, homes and ticket outlet haven't been posted yet. Watch the Historic Downtown Hannibal events page for the 2026 versions.
The festival listing names Santa at the Molly Brown House among this year's activities, with details to come. In 2025, the city reported that HHMC decorated the Molly Brown Home for Christmas and that Santa would visit there. Visit Missouri's winter events roundup listed his 2025 dates as November 29–30, December 5–7, December 12–14 and December 19–21.
Those are the same four weekends as the rest of the festival. Lined up next to this year's confirmed events, the 2025 dates fall exactly one day or one week later:
| Event | 2025 | 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Church Tour | Fri., Dec. 5 | Fri., Dec. 4 |
| Living Windows | Sat., Dec. 13 | Sat., Dec. 12 |
| Home Tour | Sat., Dec. 20 | Sat., Dec. 19 |
Each event sits in the same slot of its weekend from one year to the next. If Santa's 2026 dates follow the pattern, they would land on Thanksgiving weekend and the next three December weekends. Treat that as a guess until the Molly Brown House schedule is posted.
Some familiar pieces of past seasons have no confirmed 2026 details yet:
Hannibal's historic district has also added places to stop between events this year. Muddy River News reported that Main Street Social House, at 422 N. Main St., opened its doors in 2026 in an open-house phase. It has a public bar and restaurant, event rooms, outdoor seating and plans for live entertainment. The Hannibal Courier-Post covered Vino 573, a wine, food and live-music spot in a historic bank building at 209–211 Center St. Neither has announced holiday programming yet.
